Overview
I founded Levity Arts to bring design thinking off the screen and into real life — creating spaces where people feel inspired, connected, and seen.
What began as small, collaborative gatherings grew into a production company hosting sold-out shows and large-scale community events across Seattle.
As founder and creative director, I lead every aspect of the process — from concept and casting to brand design, marketing, and strategic growth — transforming creative vision into scalable, community-driven systems.
Impact
Designing Growth That Scales Creativity and Community
In just two years, Levity Arts evolved from small gatherings into one of Seattle’s most recognized creative collectives — receiving accolades from publications such as NPR and The Seattle Times.
These productions have grown to include hundreds of artists and thousands of community members, helping to create a market for immersive and circus-based art in the Seattle area and beyond.

The Challenge
Balancing Vision and Reality
Designing immersive experiences at scale meant balancing art, logistics, and impact — all in real time. In live production, countless factors fall outside your control: performers get hurt, flights get delayed, equipment fails, and weather shifts without warning.
In this industry, professionalism is defined by how well you adapt when the unexpected happens — and the true test of leadership is ensuring the show goes on.
The challenge was to build a sustainable, repeatable framework that transformed creative chaos into clarity, enabling Levity to scale from passion project to professional production company without losing its soul.
The Approach
Designing Experiences Through Systems and Iteration
Creating live experiences at scale required more than creativity — it demanded structure, empathy, and constant iteration. I treated each production like a product, guided by research, prototyping, and systems design.
Research & Insights
I used continuous, informal research to understand both performer and audience experience.
Observed how audiences engaged with different show formats, pacing, and layout.
Interviewed performers and producers to identify friction points in planning and execution.
Collected feedback through forms and 1:1 debriefs after every event.
Treated smaller festival partnerships as low-risk prototypes to test storylines, logistics, and audience flow before scaling to larger, ticketed shows.
System Design & Operations
To turn creative chaos into clarity, I designed repeatable systems that made production scalable:
Casting & Onboarding Pipelines — clear intake forms, contracts, and expectations.
Operational Templates — standardized show-run docs, budget sheets, and checklists.
Team Structure — defined volunteer roles and responsibilities for costuming, set design, tech, and coordination.
Communication Hubs — organized centralized information in shared folders and group channels to ensure alignment across large teams.

Creative Direction & Storytelling
Each production was designed holistically — from the visual identity to the emotional arc.
Developed cohesive themes and storylines grounded in human connection.
Directed performers, lighting, music, and staging for an integrated experience.
Designed branding, posters, and marketing to reflect the show’s tone and target audience.
Balanced creative experimentation with technical reliability and accessibility.
Feedback & Iteration
Every event was a prototype for the next.
Post-event debriefs captured what worked and what didn’t — from audience flow to timing to engagement.
Iterated on visual design, narrative pacing, and team workflows.
Built momentum by applying learnings across productions, improving efficiency and creative cohesion with each iteration.
By approaching live production through a UX lens, I built adaptable systems that scale creativity and reduce risk — allowing Levity to grow while preserving its soul.
The Outcome
Results That Speak for Themselves
Through clear systems, design-led strategy, and community-driven growth, Levity Arts has transformed from an experimental gathering into one of Seattle’s most recognized creative organizations. Each show became both an artistic achievement and a scalable framework for collaboration, proving that design thinking can thrive far beyond the screen.
