What is Soma?
Soma Bodywork is a deep, structural approach that works with the fascia — the connective tissue that shapes posture, movement, and overall well-being. Whether you’re managing chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or wanting to feel more aligned, this work supports long-term, sustainable change.
What Clients Are Saying
As an acrobat, I injured my neck badly a little over three months ago. I was fortunate enough to have Katie treat me with the first three sessions of the series and noticed a big difference in mobility. My body seemed less stiff and more at ease, I wish I had been in Seattle long enough to finish the whole series of treatments to see how the overall result would've been however, I highly recommend Soma therapy and getting treated by Katie.
– Randy H.
I came to Katie for TMJ issues after a doctor told me surgery might be my only option. Honestly, I was scared. During our session, she did intra-oral work along with jaw and neck release, and I felt the tension melt away in real time. I walked out with more relief than I’d had in months — and at my follow-up appointment, my doctor said surgery wasn’t needed anymore. Katie helped me avoid surgery and I can’t recommend her enough.
– Sandy
Katie works methodically through all the previously overlooked tissue and muscle connections throughout the body and provides coaching on posture, stretching and movement. I'm standing taller, feeling better and am free of many of the aches and pains I felt just 6 months ago. I'm also confident in the strategies Katie provided to continue to maintain the gains. Thank you Katie!
– Mark A.
I’m 72 and have lived with back pain since I was 17, plus new aches from starting indoor climbing. After a series of sessions with Katie, the Soma bodywork and personalized exercises made a remarkable difference. I left each session with less pain, more mobility, and more energy — and the progress continued between visits. Katie’s attentiveness to my specific needs truly set her apart. I now sit, stand, walk, and climb with far less pain. Thank you, Katie.
– Ken R.
I’ve known Katie for five years through the circus world, and she’s constantly expanding her skills to better serve her clients. Each session begins with thoughtful questions and quick diagnostics to pinpoint what’s going on. She guides you through deep fascia work with coordinated breath and movement, with a calm, grounding presence that helps your body naturally release. Her work is amazing, and I can’t wait to book with her again.

Treatment Sessions
Address immediate issues and relieve acute pain. They focus on specific problem areas while also supporting overall balance in the body. These sessions can be highly effective, though long-term results are more likely with the full Soma series.

Where are you located?
I work from my home practice in the Central District of Seattle. For privacy and safety, the exact address is shared after booking.
What is Structural Integration?
Structural Integration (SI) is a form of holistic bodywork that focuses on rebalancing the body and restoring natural alignment. Rather than working only where pain is present, SI addresses the whole body using a systematic approach.
By working with the body’s fascial network, Structural Integration aims to address the root causes of pain or decreased mobility. Common outcomes include improved posture, balance, flexibility, ease of movement, and greater overall body awareness. Many clients also notice increased confidence, adaptability, and a sense of resilience as their body becomes more organized and efficient.
What is fascia?
Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds and connects muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, and organs. It forms a continuous, three-dimensional web throughout the body and provides essential structure and support.
Even without the skeleton, the body would largely hold its shape because of fascia. When injury, stress, or repetitive movement patterns occur, tension is often held in the fascial system. Over time, fascia can become restricted or “bound,” pulling the body out of alignment and contributing to pain or limited mobility.
Soma works directly with fascia to release these restrictions and help restore balance and alignment.
Why would I choose Soma?
For lasting effects.
While many massage modalities work primarily with muscles to relieve tension and promote relaxation, Soma focuses on the fascial system with the intention of restructuring and re-educating the body.
Pain in one area is often caused by patterns elsewhere. Soma addresses the entire body in a systematic way, allowing chronic tension, binding, and inefficient movement habits to unwind. As alignment improves, the body often requires less ongoing intervention to feel and function well.
Does Soma hurt?
Soma can be intense at times, especially when working with tissue that has long-held restrictions. Some discomfort is normal during deeper work, but a “no pain, no gain” mindset is not the goal.
We are partners in this process. You are always encouraged to communicate if the work feels too intense, and pressure or technique will be adjusted to ensure the work remains effective and supportive.
What can I expect during a session?
Sessions typically last 90–120 minutes.
We begin with a brief check-in and a body reading, where I observe your alignment from multiple angles and invite you to notice how your body feels. From there, you’ll get on the table and the hands-on work begins.
Throughout the session, I may invite you to stand, walk, or pause and notice sensations. This isn’t about “reporting results,” but about developing awareness — an important part of the process.
Sessions often conclude with another body reading and may include movement education, such as exploring how you walk, stand, or transition between positions. These seemingly simple changes can have a profound impact on long-term alignment and ease.
What should I wear for my appointment?
All Soma work is done fully clothed.
Please wear comfortable underwear that provides adequate coverage. Avoid compression garments, as they interfere with the work.
A tube top can be provided if needed
A non-racerback sports bra is okay
Access to shoulders and the back is important
Some sessions in the series may include postural photos taken in underwear to track structural changes, so please dress with that in mind.
Do I have to do the homework?
Homework is optional but encouraged.
You may be offered simple movement explorations, awareness practices, or reading materials to support your sessions. Clients who take time to explore these often experience deeper and more lasting benefits, but nothing is required.
Think of it as an invitation, not an assignment.
How fast or slow can I do the series?
Ideally, sessions are spaced one to two weeks apart.
At certain points in the series, going longer than two weeks between sessions can leave the body temporarily out of balance, which may cause discomfort or fatigue. That said, the series can be adapted to your schedule.
Some clients complete the work in phases (sessions 1–3, then 4–7, etc.) with breaks in between. We’ll decide together what timing makes the most sense for you.
Do I have to do the whole series?
The full 10-session series offers the most comprehensive and lasting results.
However, the work can still be beneficial if the series is shortened. If you are unable to complete all ten sessions, it is recommended to finish through session 3 or session 7, as these are points where the body is in a relatively balanced state.
