Levityby Katie

About me

Hi, I’m Katie.

I’m a businesswoman with an artist’s heart and a therapist’s ear. Growing up on a farm taught me to work hard and build things myself - now I design digital products and run a performance company. I bring strategy and creativity to everything I do, and I believe in making the work, and the people around me, better - with a little levity along the way.

My Journey

Carving my own path

  1. Business school · 2010 - 2014

    Straight A's in business

I studied business and loved learning how organizations actually run. Between my junior and senior year I designed and launched the English website for a microfinance company in China - my first design project. I still look at everything in terms of how it could work better.

  2. The circus · 2014 - 2015

    Running away with the circus

Right out of school I joined a circus studio, where I ran admin, built out their programs, coached students, and trained to become a professional performer myself.

  3. On tour · 2015 - 2017

Flying trapeze and life at sea

In 2015 I toured England with a traditional tent circus performing flying trapeze, then spent a year on a German cruise ship with an international cast, performing all over the world.

  4. Therapy · 2017 - Present

    Becoming a connective tissue therapist

I went back to school for connective tissue work and opened my own practice in 2017, running it alongside coaching and performing. I've worked with 200+ clients, and the work is equal parts empathy and analysis - understanding how people move and live, then solving the puzzle of where chronic pain actually comes from and guiding them toward healthier living. It's where my empathy for users and my love of getting to the root of a problem come from.

  5. Design · 2020 - Present

    Making design my career

While I'd been designing websites on the side since 2013, in 2020 I earned my UX/UI certification and made it my career. I started as the sole designer at Kiira Health, then designed and shipped products at Alaska Airlines, lululemon and Amazon, where I wrote and shipped production code myself.

  6. Levity Arts · 2021 - Present

    Founding Levity Arts

In 2021 I founded Levity Arts, a performance company that brings circus, music and visual art together to build community and support artists. In two years we grew from 200 to 2,000 people per event. We've produced 14 community events and 5 original shows, and I run everything from the creative vision to marketing and operations.

  7. Now · 2026

    What I'm looking for

As my path shows, I'm a multifaceted go-getter who learns fast and grows with every turn. I want to join a team that moves fast, pushes the limits and lets me contribute to strategy - whether that means managing and mentoring a team or building as a hands-on individual contributor. I do my best work alongside capable people, with the autonomy to own what I build.
